List of awareness measures foreseen in our country on 3 June 2014 :
- With this year’s theme being professional drivers, Network Rail’s level crossing community of 100 Level Crossing Managers and national support network of Community Safety Managers have selected a wide variety of crossings that not only cause problems for our network regularly, but crossings that we know have a high usage of professional drivers, or are situated near industrial estates.
- Launching a programme of engagement / activity targeting professional drivers, where the Routes will be meeting with local companies / employers of professional drivers with significant driving fleets, as part of an educational programme. For example, targeting professional drivers of large HGVs, with intentions of lowering their speed on approach to crossings.
- Proposals for 3 June 2014 are also more concentrated on the power of social media advertising. We plan to use Twitter to send out approved material to a host of local and national companies including haulage firms, Royal Mail, First Group, Stage Coach Buses, local driving schools and DVLA.
- We will also use our close partnerships to send flyers electronically to all members, and employers of large fleets.
- Our ILCAD 2014 campaign will also include national safety events at over 100 level crossings, supported with leaflets, posters, presentations, car stickers and e-footers / digital collateral.
- We have a national and local media plan to follow-up with after the event has taken place, which will target local businesses close to level crossings and large employers of professional drivers.
- Use of the 2014 film made in collaboration between UIC/UNECE and the Swiss Federal Ministry of Transport
- Use of ILCAD 2014 posters
- Our company will organise an exhibition around the 4th UIC drawing contest for children on level crossing safety
